revenue*
before April 1, 2007.
Projects designed to create a new business in Québec to be
launched no later than December 31, 2008.
*
"Sales
revenue" refers to orders or contracts that have been obtained,
are under way or have been completed, and for which payment may or
may not have been received.
Also note the following
requirements:
- Projects that involve
purchasing an existing business or taking over the
operations of a business that is legally established but has
been inactive for at least two years are eligible.
Projects that involve
purchasing an existing business or taking over the
operations of a business that is legally established and
that ceased operations over the course of the previous 6 to
24 months are eligible if the new owner(s)engage(s)in activities that are markedly and obviously different from
those the business carried out in the past.
Projects that involve
starting a new business in an effort to continue or expand
an existing business are not eligible.
Changing the legal status
of a business (company name, partnership, stock ownership,
other) is not a sufficient reason for the business to be
regarded as new.
In certain cases, potential applicants
involved in this type of project should discuss the matter
with Contest officials.
IMPORTANT
- One person or one group
may submit one project only in the Business Creation division and be registered in one
category only.
A business project by a
student or group of students, 18 years of age or over and
enrolled in an educational institution, may be entered in
either the Student Entrepreneurship division or the Business
Creation division. However, to be accepted in the Business
Creation division, the business project must meet the
eligibility requirements.
A Student Entrepreneurship
project may not be entered simultaneously in the Business
Creation division.
A Student Entrepreneurship
project, whether or not it wins a prize, may be entered in a
subsequent year in the Business Creation division, provided
it meets the eligibility requirements.
A project entered in the
Contest in previous years in the Business Creation division
may be submitted again provided it did not win a regional or
provincial prize.
