MELS' Introduction to Entrepreneurship Measure (Financial Assistance)
In order to encourage and support entrepreneurship in schools, the ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS) will continue to offer financial assistance to schools and colleges through the Introduction to Entrepreneurship Measure (IEM).
The IEM has two components, one of which provides financial support for entrepreneurship projects by students who have been entered and accepted for the Québec Entrepreneurship Contest. Only those projects will be considered for funding under the MELS Introduction to Entrepreneurship Measure. The eligibility rules are clearly defined in the Administrative Guide for the IEM available on the MELS Web site at www.mels.gouv.qc.ca/entrepreneuriat in the section Introduction to Entrepreneurship Measure
A project may, however, be eligible for the Contest even if it does not meet the IEM eligibility requirements.

A transition year for the MELS' Introduction to Entrepreneurship Measure For the year 2011-2012, the ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport simplifies the application process for financial assistance through the IEM. Being registered in the Contest, a project is also automatically being registered to the IEM. The MELS will then use the registration form to assess the eligibility of the project to the IEM. It is no longer necessary to submit a Declaration of Enrollments’ form and to provide students’ permanent codes, with exception to the college level. For this level, the Declaration of Enrollments’ form is necessary because it allows the payment of certification credits when the entrepreneurial project is accepted, as stated in Annex S012 of the Régime budgétaire et financier des cégeps. For this reason, a new claim form easy to complete, is available at the following address: http://www.inforoutefpt.org/mse/documentation.htm. Also, for the 14th edition, questions about the MELS' IEM must be sent by email to DSECIMD-Entrepreneuriat@mels.gouv.qc.ca. The Québec Entrepreneurship Contest and the Introduction to Entrepreneurship Measure are two distinct and autonomous entities. MELS is solely responsible for awarding financial assistance and any decision concerning the payment of funds rests entirely with it. |
